Dark Imperium Death Guard WIP 2

I haven't decided how to approach the zombies, so instead of figuring that painting puzzle out I decided to paint some more of the details on the Death Guard. I'm itching to paint up a rhino for these guys, so that might come before the shambling horde. I am also tempted to hunt down my old Typhus model and repaint him using this new color scheme/technique.

Has anyone else broken open their box and started painting? I've seen a lack of Dark Imperium stuff online.

  1. Sweet. I still havent finsihed my DV set yet O_o I have plan for this baoced set though scars vs deathgaurd. may try using pearl colors for the scars to contrast the deathgaurd and their weathering.

  2. I am tempted to start with the death guard but I have some other unfinished things to do first. And there are quite a lot of models in the box, each highly detailed so it is a daunting task to undertake.

  6. Its like an organic colour scheme. I can smell the mildew. Fantastic work. I was going to sell my Death Guard half of the starter set but I think I'll hold on to them now.

    1. I paint green over a black base coat and then highlight with green-grey

    3. I had another question: what color did you use for the metal itself?

      Thanks in advance!

  9. Hey John, amazing work! How did you create the streaks on the armor? Likewise, what paint is used on the metal trim for the shoulders?

    Thanks!

    1. I used AK-Interactive enamel for the streaking. I think the armor trim is Tinny Tin from the Game Color line.
